My First Episode

One night at 3am, I went to the bathroom and was walking back to my bed and BOOM. Out of no where, it was as if a  lightening bolt struck me in my eye. Imagine someone stabbing you in the eye with a 12 inch knife over in your eye over and over and over. If you screamed in pain, it made it worse. 
I thought I was having a brain aneurysm. The nurse on 24/7 call made me think it wasn't the case and had to wait until the morning. 

I managed to get through the night and in the morning I called a neuro and went and saw her. The pain was somewhat manageable and she gave me some meds and it seemed to go away. One of those things we all chalked up to something unexplainable and odd. She never mentioned the word trigeminal neuralgia. I saw my dentist, primary care doc, an ENT and no one could explain it. 

So things settled down and went on with life.
